I know there are a flood of PetCools out there now, as I received mine this past week. I sat and looked at it and the DragonFly for a long time trying to figure a way to install it efficiently, yet not to the point that if I sell the trailer that it has to go with it.

The only thing I don't like about this installation is it limits you to one door, but the good thing is that door can be kept closed.

I have seen several others done similar to this but here's what I came up with. It is still in the rough, but might give some of you some possibilities. This took a total of about 30 minutes.

Having windows that slide up and down, I cut a piece of thin aluminum that would flex enough to fit into the same channel track as the window, and just tall enough to fit in when the window was all the way open. Then marked the highest place on the panel to mount the inlet and outlet couplers, as you can see by the pencil marks.

That left room so that when the window was pushed closed, it covers the aluminum to keep the rain out, and further secures the panel in place.

I wanted separation for my cold air and return air, and didn't want to freeze Side's tail off, so I redirected the cold air with a plastic coffee can cut in half at an angle to direct the cold air flow up. A small bungee cord seemed to do the trick temporarily.

It was all quick and easy, cooled the tear down to 78 on this 92 degree day, and it's not permanent. Our favorite time to camp is spring and fall, but after hearing of the heat at the South/North Gathering that will be in August, I think we'll bring it along. Laughing

We still need a stand, and the PVC one that was shown on another thread was nice. Our storage boxes are about the right height though, and don't we always seem to carry too much stuff? Confused

Hope this was helpful.....

Mark

Thanks Barb and John!

We drove to Cincinnati today and picked up our next teardrop project. 13 hours on the road, and tomorrow we drive to Atlanta to move Shane, our oldest son. He is going to work in Lithonia (Atlanta suburb) as Plant Administrator for a concrete company.

This retirement is killing us! HA! Laughing

Sid,

I guess it's not clear to me what your next teardrop project is. Care to share?

So, I call the wife to the computer to look at a bike rack that slides over the trailer hitch.....ie take the bikes and the Teardrop. She says we dont even have AC yet........so I ordered my Petcool tonight Twisted Evil
Sid thanks for the idea I was wondering what to do on the inside to deflect the cool air.....good idea Applause

I also kind like the roof vent idea to, but seeing how much attention the TD gets. I'd be afraid to go off for the day site seeing with the PC just sitting on the roof.....kinda like come and get it. Im guessing in the door mount you can put it the tow vehicle pretty easy and head out for the day.

Hey Rob,

Yep, it takes all of about 15 seconds to take the whole thing off and stick it in the truck. Laughing

The other reason I didn't want it permanent on the DragonFly, was it may just wind up in my next project shown above. We won't know for sure until we get into the build, because the DragonFly sure is sweet and set up exactly like we wanted it. It may be a tough decision on which one to keep. Thinking

I like The Dragonfly better myself , I guess with a few tweaks it will be way cool. I'm partial to that profile. MIne has always been questionable. I got it on Ebay direct from Littleguy . It was featured as a Littleguy retro 5 wide, but the sticker on the side says its a Pleasant Valley.........anyway just happy that the "Nest" will be cool and extend the camping season for us.

that's awsome, I like the profile...

I'm envious, it reminds me of the Lil Diner!

Don had the trailer custom made and he had completed the floor. The sides were cut out but only clamped on for that picture. It all came home strapped down flat.

My question is 'how do you run it?' If you don't have shore power and only have 12v, what do you do? Confused
