Hi all,

I was working with the airgun today. I put in 1 3/8" brads. It was difficult to slide the piece back in with the brads (which should have been a clue to stop) but I did and then the gun would only fire air, no brads. I can't open the sleeve to remove the brads. Anyone have an idea on how to open it once it is jammed?

Paul tried opening the various parts of the machine but got no where. Any input would be helpful.

The screws on the nose piece will release the cover and hammer plate, if there is a nail jammed in there that's where it'll be.

I have had the same problem with my Porter Cable brad nailer.

Sounds like the brads didn't seat correctly when you loaded it and they kept the slide from closing properly. The mis-seated brads are probably wedging the slide in place. Try to open the slide like you do when you load new brads. You may have to apply a little hammer force to get the slide to open. If that is it, you just have to be careful to make sure the brads seat properly when you load them.

Are you sure the brads are designed for your model of gun. I had a similar problem with my Cambell Hausfield brag nailer. Had to drive open the slide and remove the wrong brads. They were for a CH nailer but my model was not included in the list. Be sure they are designed for your MODEL not just your brand of gun.

Had a similar problem - took it to a service center. They cleared the problem, cleaned and lubricated it, and it worked better than new!!

I had the same problem too with the one I got from Harbor Freight. But in my case, me thinks it was because it came from Harbor Freight. To their credit HF did replace it with a new one that also got stuck. I guess you gets what you pay for.

I have brads get stuck in my h/f 18 gauge nailer a couple of times.. removed the front cover and removed the stuck brad.. discovered that aligning the brads when loading was critical..
